Anthropologie Knockoff Tutorial: Piccadilly Drops

Anthropologie Knockoff Tutorial: Piccadilly Drops
Hello Sweets! Yes, the final countdown for Christmas Day has started, and I can almost hear the echoing sound of clock ticking…! I always wonder (like, every year) why I feel like Christmas Day is running towards me in ‘sorry Usain Bolt, you’re simply too slow’ sort of speed, no matter how well prepared I am. Or maybe no one can really prepare enough for the big day, I don’t know!
Anyways, today’s Anthro knockoff is perfect for a last-ditch attempt to sort out all the gift making – it’s quick, easy and pretty :)
Anthropologie Knockoff Tutorial: Piccadilly Drops anthro
First of all, this is the original version, Piccadilly Drops, $48, from Anthropologie.
Pretty, right? And the best part is that you only need a few things to make the earrings.
What you’ll need (from left):
Anthropologie Knockoff Tutorial: Piccadilly Drops tool
  • 4 metal rings (I’m using Beadalon ‘twisted’ 16mm solid rings)
  • 4 drop beads (I’m using Swarovski 8mm xilion mini pear drops)
  • a pair of ear wires
  • (not in the photo) beading wire, about 20cm (I’m using 24 gauge Artistic Wire), pair of round-nose and flat-nose pliers and wire cutters
Instructions:

1) Thread a drop bead to beading wire, twist the wire twice above the bead, and trim the shorter end of wire.
2) Create a loop above the twist using round-nose pliers. The loop should be big enough to hold two metal rings later.

3) Add two metal rings to the loop.
4) Wind the wire around 3-4 times below the loop.

5) Trim the excess wire. Now it looks like this – two rings and the drop bead are connected.
6) Repeat step 1 to 3, this time adding the ring and an ear wire to the loop.

7) Wind the wire around 3-4 times below the loop, and cut the excess wire.

Repeat the process to make another set, and you’re done! Didn’t I tell you it was easy?

I think it’d be fun to make a pair with two different coloured beads, or add another loop and have three different colours in one (ombre sounds so delicious!). Hope you enjoyed the tutorial :)

Craft Tutorial: Chan Luu knockoff Earrings 4
Hello Sweets! I know, two posts in a day (it might snow later :D)! Today’s tutorial is a knockoff of earrings designed by Los Angeles-based jewelry designer, Chan Luu.
Craft Tutorial: Chan Luu knockoff Earrings original
This is the original version, 14-karat gold-vermeil and semi-precious stone earrings by Chan Luu (photo credit: net-a-porter.com) Aren’t these earrings gorgeous?! The deep purple stones look perfect for fall. And even though they may look quite complicated to make, they are not – OK, the tutorial is quite lengthy, but each process is very easy. So… are you ready?
What you’ll need:
Craft Tutorial: Chan Luu knockoff Earrings tool
  • 24 beads (I’m using 6mm Czech Fire Polish beads)
  • 60 seed beads
  • 2 drop beads
  • a pair of ear wires
  • 4 – 6 jump rings (see step16 for exact number)
  • beading wire, about 70cm (I’m using 24 gauge Artistic Wire)
  • (not in the photo) pair of flat-nose pliers, round-nose pliers and wire cutters
Instructions:

1) Cut the beading wire into 30cm length, and thread 4 seed beads.
2) Pass through the first bead so that it forms a loop.

3) Add a Fire Polish bead and 4 seed beads to one end of the wire.
4) Pass through the first bead to form a loop.

5) Add a Fire Polish bead and 4 seed beads to the other end of the wire, and pass through the fist bead to form a loop.
6) Add one Fire Polish bead and one seed bead to one end of the wire, and one Fire Polish bead to the other end of the wire.

7) Pass through the seed bead you just added.
8) Add one seed bead to one end, two seed beads to the other end of the wire.

9) Pass through the last bead you added to form a loop. Now you have one flower motif.
10) Repeat the steps to make 2 more flower motifs. At the end of the third flower, instead of making a small loop with seed beads, add three beads.

11) Pass through the last bead.
12) Wrap the wires around the seed beads to secure, then trim the excess wires.

13) Next, cut the beading wire into 10cm length, and thread a drop bead. Twist the wire twice above the bead.
14) Trim the shorter end of wire, and create a loop above the twist using round-nose pliers.

15) If the wire fit in the seed bead in the middle, thread the wire before winding the wire around below the loop.
16) If the wire doesn’t fit (like me), use jump rings to attach the drop bead to the seed bead.

17) Attach ear wires to the motif using jump rings, and you’re done!

Voila! It’s amazing how different the earrings look using different coloured beads! Mine look more winter-ish, don’t you think? Hope you enjoyed the tutorial (trust me, it’s so much easier than it sounds!), and have a lovely weekend!

Anthropologie Knock-Off Earrings
Here's how to make your own!
Supplies:
-Gold wire in around 16 gauge and 24 gauge
-Earring Hooks
-4mm Czech Glass Beads
-Wire Cutters
-Needle Nose Pliers
-Round Nose Pliers

Steps:
Cut about 5 1/2 inches of the of the 16 gauge wire

Bend the wire into a tear drop shape (does not have to be perfect yet, you can form it more as you go) and using needle nose pliers bend both of the ends of the wire 90 degrees

Using round nose pliers, bend the ends into loops.  Keep one straight up, and one bend sideways.

Connect the sideways loop around the neck of the straight loop.

Squeeze the sideways loop shut with needle nose pliers.

Put the earring form on an anvil and pound it with a chasing hammer to harden the wire so it will keep its shape.

Cut around 12 inches of the 24 gauge wire

Wrap the end of the wire around the middle of the side of the earring form around 8 times

String your beads onto the wire - I did about 8 inches of beads.

Start wrapping the beaded wire around the earring form (you may want to tape the end of the wire so the beads don't fall off)

Wrap the wire until you reach the other middle side of the earring form.

Wrap the wire tail around the wire form again around 8 times.

Trim off the excess with wire cutters

Almost done!

Open up the top loop on the earring, and attach an earring wire.  Squeeze the loop shut with needle nose pliers.

Make a matching earring, and your done!

So pretty! You could also make these in silver, and with other color beads on the bottom. I also have made some in a circle form instead of a teardrop form (which are for sale in my etsy shop)
So what do you think...will you try it out?
